Home Solar Power Systems - how many Kilowatts (kWs) are created?

The first thing you would ask you - what's solar radiation and how it related to solar generated electricity? A good question and one that is discussed in one of our article on energy solar home. However, this article explains how kilowatts are calculated based on your solar energy production. It will also highlight the difference between the solar cells connected in parallel or in series.

The average American Home uses about 25 kWh of electricity a day. The following example demonstrates how to calculate the power produced by a residential solar energy system. By consulting a map of solar radiation, we find that a House receives 5 hours of direct sunlight per day, on average throughout the year.

Maps of solar radiation are highlighted on the Web sites of may throughout the Internet. You can do a quick search for "solar radiation" to find a. They are essentially plot the amount of solar light based on the time of the year and the physical location who will strike at the United States in a given area.

Calculation of the power of a solar energy system

Divide the average kWh per day per Sun hours average per day. For this example, we take 25 kWh divided by 5 hours of sunlight per day = 5 kW system this 5 kW will generate 25 kWhs in optimal conditions in the light of the Sun for 5 hours or 25 kWh a day average with some production of advanced and most of the light of the Sun at angles less than optimal.

Future articles related to solar energy will continue explain the effects of the angle of the Sun, reflection and refraction on the design, the output and the installation of solar panels.

Energy as it relates to Solar Modules

The individual solar modules that are measured in watts were a particular voltage (approximately 40 volts) and a particular intensity (around 5 amperes). A solar module with 40 volts and 5 amperes is called a module of 200 watts, which means that it has the potential to produce 200 watts of power when in full sun, far from the tree or shade and clear snow or debris. Given that most of the electrical components around your home are only rated to 600 volts DC, it is rare to see a solar panel with a larger chain of 15 solar modules. In contrast, because UPS needs a minimum tension or pressure to enable them, you'll rarely have a solar panel with a string with a solar modules size more then 6 small.

Electrical components, such as solar cells, modules of training or batteries, can be connected in series or in parallel. It makes a great difference in the total amount of energy produced from the system of solar energy, and the stability of the technology over time. Each solar module or component was positive and a negative pole. Essentially, this is the way same batteries have their positive and negative poles arranged. Look at how you but batteries in a flashlight. Same idea here. The manner in which these poles are connected makes a big difference. Connect the solar panels in series

When you connect in series residential solar energy systems, you connect the positive pole (+) on a single component to the negative pole (-) on the next. When the modules are connected in series, tensions are added. Addition of tension set in this mode creates a long string of modules solar all work together, according to each other and create a flow of current which increases along the system.

These modules in the series are called strings. The Middle string is 8-12 modules for tension is 320-480. Unfortunately, we meet some negative aspects of this type of construction.

Connecting solar panels in parallel

When you connect to components or solar panels in parallel, you connect the current panels can travel to your UPS and your home via multiple paths. The addition of solar modules in series, which increases the current volume as it goes, the solar panels in parallel has effectively leave the current or the volume of electricity passing through the system.

Solar panels or solar panels attached set parallel chains are called parallel systems. Their amps are combined together, but the total tension remains the same. Adding amps is like increasing the volume, the pressure remains the same, but the volume increases. Inverters can handle only so much volume, so you'll rarely see more than 1 to 3 strings in parallel; positive ends with positive ends at negative ends at negative ends.

One of the benefits of parallel connection is that electricity continues to sink, even if one of the components (or strings) is damaged. If a system is entirely in series, one of the damaged elements stops the whole system. You may remember the ever frustrating lights which were connected in series. Often difficult to stem, disorder, strings of lights connected in series are difficult to determine when a bulb blew. Now, modern Christmas lights are connected in parallel. You can see because there are two cables connecting each lamp. You can feel through their maintenance and their operation less frustrating.

Options for residential solar energy systems

In this article, we explained in detail how the solar modules to calculate the power they produce as well as how to connect the solar panels in series or in parallel can have a large impact on the production of energy and the complexity of design. Our next article will focus on how solar angle affects solar energy systems and how to quantify the solar energy produced by the Sun.
